Overview

Miguel Ángel Gutiérrez Garcia-Calvo Miguel Ángel Gutiérrez Garcia-Calvo was born in Toledo, Spain. After completing his studies as a technical architect at universities in Spain and Italy, he began to build his first guitars as an autodidact. He soon decided to deepen his knowledge of guitar making and trained with master luthiers in Spain and Italy. Miguel Ángel Gutiérrez Garcia-Calvo combines scientific methods for the acoustic design of his guitars with traditional construction methods. The choice of woods, attention to detail and commitment to sound and playing comfort are distinctive markers of Gutiérrez guitars.

Acoustically, the guitar is fortified with a lattice bracing constructed entirely from wood, an approach that meticulously balances the robust, full-bodied sound with delicate tonal nuances. The design subtly incorporates a mother of pearl leaf, symbolizing the deeply personal and vulnerable act of musical performance, reminiscent of the raw exposure shared in the narrative of Adam and Eve. This element resonates with performers, evoking the profound intimacy of live expression. Miguel’s 2024 Limited Edition is more than a musical instrument; it is a work of art that embodies the convergence of aesthetic elegance and rich acoustic clarity, crafted to stir the senses and enrich the soul.

The 2024 Limited Edition crafted by Miguel is an exquisite manifestation of luthiery, merging traditional materials with a nuanced artistic sensibility. The guitar features a resonant cedar soundboard paired harmoniously with padouk for the back, sides, and bridge, enriching the instrument’s sonic depth with its striking visual presence. The ebony fingerboard and cedar neck refine the tactile experience, enhancing the fluid playability. The intricate marquetry on the headstock veneer, rosette, profiles, and bridge captivates the eye, featuring an elegant interplay of natural hues that form interlocking diamonds and a central mosaic of nasrid stars, a homage to historical artistry.

While this guitar is sold, these are ready for you

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
