Oren Myers - 2024 No. 129

Overview

The design of Oren Myers’ guitars and the construction methods he uses fall into the broad category of “traditional” guitars. Although he works within established parameters, he does not copy any particular guitar maker or construction method. Each tonewood is unique; therefore, the exact thickness of the components of each guitar is adjusted accordingly. The body shape is the result of his plantilla and the decorative elements of the guitars are also created by him.

This exquisite instrument, marrying unparalleled craftsmanship with innovative design, stands as a testament to timeless elegance. Drawing design inspiration from Picasso’s iconic “Woman with Yellow Hair” and the intricate patterns of an ancient Greek vase in the British Museum, this guitar transcends traditional boundaries, positioning itself as a masterpiece in the world of classical guitars.

The Oren Myers No. 129 guitar stands as an acoustic marvel, marrying visual beauty with exceptional sound quality. Its spruce soundboard is the key to its bright and responsive tone, a choice that delights players seeking clarity and articulation in their music. Complementing the soundboard, the classic Indian rosewood used for the back and sides not only adds to the guitar’s unique visual texture but also enhances its overall tonal character. This combination of woods results in a guitar that is as aesthetically pleasing as it is sonically vibrant, making it a standout instrument in both appearance and performance.

When played, the Oren Myers No. 129 guitar truly sings. It is designed for fast response, allowing each note to resonate fully and richly, perfect for filling rooms with its refined and meticulously crafted tone. The guitar’s sound spectrum is impressively dynamic, featuring sweet, melodious trebles and robust, powerful basses that together create a well-balanced and dynamic acoustic experience. This guitar’s simplistic yet profound elegance makes it more than just an instrument for concerts; it is a benchmark of excellence in the classical guitar world.

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
