Overview

About the luthier

Pete Beer is a distinguished guitar maker and educator based in Argyll, Scotland, who began his luthiery journey in 2001 at Clyde College, Glasgow, where he now imparts his expertise part-time. Crafting guitars from his workshop, Beer is dedicated to producing instruments that excel in musicality, offering a rich palette of tonal colors and dynamic expressions. His designs are notably influenced by Daniel Freiderich, incorporating unique features like doubled sides and a specific top thickness pattern for enhanced volume and projection. Beer’s Concert model is renowned for its powerful sound and extensive headroom, characterized by a soundboard with asymmetric bracing and a continuous neck design that extends to the soundhole, ensuring robust support for the upper frets. Committed to playability, Beer equips his guitars with features like a double action titanium truss rod and offers customizable saddle heights, making his instruments not only sonorous but also exceptionally player-friendly.

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
