So Kimishima - Sol Cedar 64 cm

So Kimishima - Sol Cedar 64 cm

Overview

So Kimishima is the grandson of legendary Japanese luthier Masaru Kohno. He worked for Masaki Sakurai for the past 15 years until he finally decided to create his own models, which are part of the Kohno Guitar Manufacturing lineup. Kimishima benefits from the research and experience of Masaru Kohno and Masaki Sakurai to continue the quality of their guitars but also to challenge new techniques and develop new models. Like any other excellent craftsman, Kimishima pays particular attention to the details and finish of the guitar.

So Kimishima's approach to guitar making weaves together centuries-old theories of sound vibrations and his personal insights, culminating in a distinct departure from the sonic landscapes crafted by Masaru Kohno and Masaki Sakurai. This particular guitar, a testament to Kimishima's innovative craftsmanship, features a cedar soundboard paired with Madagascar rosewood for the back and sides. Such a combination not only promises durability and visual appeal but also contributes to the instrument's distinctive sound profile. The warm trebles, remarkable for their clarity, blend harmoniously with solid bass foundations, producing a rich, multi-dimensional auditory experience.

Kimishima's meticulous selection of materials and his dedication to blending traditional techniques with personal innovation are evident in the quality of sound this guitar produces. The cedar soundboard is known for its ability to mature beautifully over time, offering a sound that becomes richer and more resonant, while the Madagascar rosewood contributes to the depth and complexity of the instrument's tonal palette. Together, they create a sound that is both warm and clear, with trebles that sing and basses that provide a grounded, robust foundation. This guitar stands as a shining example of how modern luthiers can honor the legacy of their predecessors while also forging their own path, offering musicians a unique instrument that reflects both the history and future of guitar craftsmanship.

  • Classical Guitar

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
