Stefanos Poligenis - 2019 Lattice

Stefanos Poligenis - 2019 Lattice

Overview

Stefanos Poligenis was introduced to the guitar early. At the age of 14, he became deeply involved in guitar building. He built his first classical guitar in the workshop of Kolya Panheuyzen, whose uncle Edgar Mönch was a renowned guitar builder. His guitars have been played by Julian Bream, Jorge Morel, Andres Segovia, and John Williams, among others. Stefanos builds both traditional and modern Double Top guitars.
"The act of guitar building is a highly poetic one," says Stefanos. "I understand poetry in the ancient Greek tradition, derived from Poiesis, meaning to make or create. A guitar is a tool for an artist to express their emotions, imagination, and soul, and it's my goal to capture that essence and bring it to life through my craft."
With a passion for his work that shines through in every note played on one of his guitars, Stefanos continues to create instruments that inspire musicians worldwide. "It fascinates me every time to see something abstract become more concrete until it meets my ideal," he says. Through his unwavering commitment to his craft, Stefanos has cemented his place as a true master of the art of guitar building.
This new 2019 Stefano Poligenis guitar is a unique, one-of-a-kind classical guitar. • Classical Guitar

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
