Stephen Hill – 2023 "Granada" No. 274

Overview

Stephen Hill is an English guitar maker in Granada, Spain. In his inspiring career, he evolved from a talented flamenco guitarist to one of the most exciting and best builders of Spanish guitars on the market today. His inspiration came from legendary guitar makers and guitarists with whom he built close relationships and friendships. Among others, one can mention Antonio Marin Montero, Paco Pena, Manuel Reyes, etc. Stephen Hill crafts fantastic Spanish guitars but shares his passion and knowledge with some talented students, from whom we have also received some very skillfully worked guitars.

The 2023 Stephen Hill 'Granada' guitar is a testament to its namesake style, characterized by a light yet sturdy build that yields a robust, assertive sound. The guitar’s tonal character is highly dynamic, radiating vibrant energy with lyrical trebles and full-bodied basses, thanks to the traditional design of 7 fan bracings. Its responsiveness to subtle shifts in hand placement and touch allows for a broad spectrum of tonal color, dynamics, and expression, making it an instrument that truly resonates with the player's technique. The design of the guitar's neck further accentuates its playability. The neck's smooth and rounded profile accommodates virtually any hand type or size, making it remarkably comfortable to play. In conjunction with the guitar's responsive nature, this feature enhances the overall playing experience and supports a broad range of techniques and musical styles. In terms of its practical application, the 2023 Stephen Hill 'Granada' guitar demonstrates impressive versatility. Its dynamic sound and sensitive response make it a robust choice for concert performances, while its distinct tonal qualities are equally well-suited to recording environments. This guitar provides a seamless blend of traditional design elements, innovative craftsmanship, and high-quality materials, making it a preferred choice for both concert performances and studio recordings.

Stephen Hill – 2023 Classical Guitar review

While this guitar is sold, these are ready for you

  • Classical Guitar

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
