Wolfgang Jellinghaus has been building guitars since the age of fourteen. He was born in 1951 in Dortmund, Germany, the son of a guitar maker, where he grew up with guitars at an early age. Over the years he developed a great passion and expertise for this instrument. Wolfgang Jellinghaus has been living and working in China for several years, where he builds handmade guitars of astonishing quality in a small manufactory.
Lightweight, responsive, and visually stunning, this replica of Antonio de Torres’ fourth guitar, famously known as “La Leona,” is a true masterpiece. Paying homage to one of the most iconic instruments in guitar history, this exceptional replica captures the warmth and lyrical quality that define Torres’ work. The guitar’s effortless responsiveness offers an enjoyable and playful character, inspiring creativity and expression. Its brass Tornavoz contributes to the instrument’s remarkably low resonance, between D# and E, replicating the distinctive “Torres effect” with remarkable fidelity. This instrument is a captivating blend of historical homage and refined craftsmanship.
