Daniele Marrabello - 2023 No. 166

Overview

Daniele Marrabello is one of the most sought-after Italian luthiers. After his guitar-making studies at the Civica Scuola di Liuteria in Milan, he became Enrico Bottelli’s pupil and deepened his woodworking skills, aesthetical identity, and sound personality under the guidance of the esteemed maestro. Daniele Marrabello opened his personal workshop in Vimodrone, on the outskirts of Milan, in 2012.

Daniele's choice of materials for his guitar showcases a deep appreciation for the craft, where every piece of wood is selected for its contribution to the instrument's overall quality. The Indian rosewood used for the back and sides is not just a nod to the traditional aesthetics of fine guitars but also plays a pivotal role in enriching the instrument's sound, providing a depth and richness that is palpable. Similarly, the soundboard, made from hand-split, master-grade Swiss spruce, is exceptionally light yet strong, contributing to the guitar's vibrant and responsive tone. This careful selection of woods underscores Daniele's commitment to blending visual beauty with acoustic excellence, ensuring that each guitar not only looks stunning but also meets the high sonic standards expected by discerning musicians.

While the guitar's aesthetic pays homage to a celebrated 1958 German guitar, its sonic character draws inspiration from a 1952 model, merging historical aesthetics with time-tested acoustic principles. This instrument is a sonic marvel, distinguished by its outstanding clarity across all registers. Daniele's craftsmanship ensures that each note is articulated with precision, creating a sound that is pure and balanced. This meticulous attention to tonal balance allows for a wide range of musical expressions, offering musicians a vast palette of sounds to explore. The fundamental notes are solid and well-defined, while the overtones are controlled and transparent, contributing to the guitar's versatility. Whether for classical performances or exploring new musical territories, this guitar's clarity and balance make it a suitable companion for a broad spectrum of musical styles and nuances, reflecting Daniele's mastery in guitar making.

While this guitar is sold, these are ready for you

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
