Francois R. Leonard – 2024 No. 91 Spruce/Maple Lattice

Overview

François Leonard has been building classical guitars for almost 20 years and lives and works in his workshop in Lorient, France. He had the opportunity to learn from many guitar builders in England and also worked in the Lakewood workshop in Germany. He received support from Dominique Field as an occasional mentor, so it is no surprise that the aesthetics and structural concept of his guitars are strongly influenced by French masters such as Daniel Friederich and Dominique Field.

The 2024 Francois Regis Leonard guitar stands as a masterpiece in the world of stringed instruments. Crafted with exceptional precision, its vibrant soundboard is made from spruce, while the body is shaped from rich maple, creating a harmonious blend of sophistication and resonance inherent to these premium materials.

Featuring a distinctive lattice bracing system, this guitar's soundboard is remarkably responsive. Each plucked note comes to life, resonating with an almost ethereal depth and clarity. The trebles are rich and powerful, resonating with a seasoned and harmonious tonality that defines the instrument's character.

The 2024 Francois Regis Leonard guitar holds a wide dynamic range and complex tonal palette at the service of the artist's intent, capturing the essence of every composition. While this guitar is sold, these are ready for you

  • Classical Guitar

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
