Francois Regis Leonard - 2023 Cedar 65 cm

Overview

François Leonard has been building classical guitars for almost 20 years and lives and works in his workshop in Lorient, France. He had the opportunity to learn from many guitar builders in England and also worked in the Lakewood workshop in Germany. He received support from Dominique Field as an occasional mentor, so it is no surprise that the aesthetics and structural concept of his guitars are strongly influenced by French masters such as Daniel Friederich and Dominique Field.

Carved from the mellowness of cedar for its soundboard and the richness of Indian rosewood for its body, this brand-new guitar from 2023 is a testament to the timeless elegance and superior resonance these materials bestow.

The lattice bracing system, a distinctive feature of this masterpiece, gives rise to a soundboard of unparalleled reactivity. It breathes life into each note, ensuring they swell with resonance and depth. The trebles emanate with profound amplitude, exuding a matured and harmonious timbre, pivotal in upholding the genuine essence of the guitar.

Engaging with this instrument is a dialogue, a delicate dance between the performer and the guitar. Its vast dynamic range and diverse tonal palette allow for an astute articulation of the artist's vision, rendering a captivating rendition of every musical piece.

Francois Regis Leonard's meticulousness is palpable in every curve, fret, and string, emphasizing craftsmanship that borders on the divine. To encapsulate, the 2023 Francois Regis Leonard Lattice Bracing guitar isn't just an instrument but an experience — an impeccable blend of superior acoustics, dexterous playability, and artisanal perfection. For the guitarist who refuses to compromise on precision and execution, this creation is the zenith of desirability.

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
