About the luthier

So Kimishima is the grandson of legendary Japanese luthier Masaru Kohno. He worked for Masaki Sakurai for the past 15 years until he finally decided to create his own models, which are part of the Kohno Guitar Manufacturing lineup. Kimishima benefits from the research and experience of Masaru Kohno and Masaki Sakurai to continue the quality of their guitars but also to challenge new techniques and develop new models. Like any other excellent craftsman, Kimishima pays particular attention to the details and finish of the guitar.

About the guitar

This is elegantly complemented by Kimishima’s signature rosette, a testament to the meticulous attention to detail that defines his work. The choice of Indian rosewood for the back and sides not only enhances the guitar’s visual appeal but also contributes to its warm and resonant sound. As is customary with Kohno Guitar Manufacturing, the “Stella” model exemplifies the pinnacle of luthiery, showcasing flawless execution and an unwavering commitment to quality in every aspect of its construction. Beyond its aesthetic allure, the “Stella” guitar is distinguished by its captivating tonal quality, which achieves a remarkable balance across all registers.
