About the luthier
Stephen Hill is an English guitar maker in Granada, Spain. In his inspiring career, he evolved from a talented flamenco guitarist to one of the most exciting and best builders of Spanish guitars on the market today. His inspiration came from legendary guitar makers and guitarists with whom he built close relationships and friendships. Among others, one can mention Antonio Marin Montero, Paco Pena, Manuel Reyes, etc. Stephen Hill crafts fantastic Spanish guitars but shares his passion and knowledge with some talented students, from whom we have also received some very skillfully worked guitars.
About the guitar
This extraordinary guitar was specially crafted for the first-prize winner of the 2023 Andrés Segovia Guitar Competition, who turned out to be left-handed. Although built in 2023, the guitar remains in brand-new condition. As a traditionally constructed instrument, it embodies the strong, unmistakable characteristics of southern Spanish guitars. The cedar soundboard adds a rich warmth to its tonal profile, while the Ziricote back and sides are nothing short of breathtaking, combining striking aesthetics with premium tonal qualities. This guitar is a powerful concert instrument, perfectly suited for any playing situation, while retaining the authentic charm and spirit of a classic Spanish guitar.
