Ariel Ameijenda - 2017 CF

Ariel Ameijenda - 2017 CF

Overview

Ariel Ameijenda was born in Montevideo, Uruguay, in 1963, as the son of one the country’s most famous guitar makers, Manuel Ameijenda. Ariel’s father learned this difficult art from Juan Carlos Santurion. Santurion had studied at Fleta’s workshop in Barcelona, Spain in the early 1950’s. the young Ariel who helped in his father’s workshop, learned the finest techniques used by world-class makers of classical guitars and renaissance and baroque string instruments. More importantly, the passion that's necessary for such pursuits came to him quite naturally and very early in life. At the age of 14, under his father’s guidance, Ariel progressed from helping with repairs to the construction of his first instruments. In 1997 Ariel opened his own workshop in Montevideo. Now he sells guitars and period string instruments to musicians all over the world. In 2014, Ariel moved to the heavenly settings of the Cerro de los Burros near the city or Piriapolis at the East Coast of Uruguay to be able to respond to the growing list of orders placed to purchase his guitars and to fully commit to the manufacturing or the finest guitars in a workshop personally designed by him. This guitar has a cedar top and Uruguayan Blackwood back and sides. It provides the warmth and color we would expect from a cedar top guitar. Surprisingly, the pleasant brilliance of the trebles rather remind us of a spruce top. The tuners are made by Gotoh. A hardshell case is included. This guitar is Cites-free (CF).

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
