Fabio Schmidt - 2023 REG

Overview

Fabio Schmidt, an accomplished Italian luthier, began his journey into guitar making by enrolling at the Civica Scuola di Liuteria in Milan during the 2004/2005 academic year. Under the tutelage of renowned masters Aldo Illotta, Lorenzo Lippi, and Gabriele Negri, Schmidt absorbed invaluable knowledge and honed his craft. In 2007, he embarked on a year-long internship with master luthier Roberto De Miranda, a professional relationship that has continued to this day. This period was crucial for Schmidt as it allowed him to delve deeper into the intricacies of guitar-making directly under the guidance of an industry expert. Always eager to enhance his craft, Schmidt attended numerous seminars led by industry veterans Tiziano Rizzi, Enrico Bottelli, and Roberto De Miranda. These experiences undoubtedly broadened his guitar-making perspective and further developed his skill set. Since 2008, Schmidt has regularly participated in numerous festivals and Lutherie exhibitions across Italy, showcasing his exquisite craftsmanship and contributing to the country's rich guitar-making tradition. Throughout his career, Schmidt has worked in various Italian regions, including Lombardy, Puglia, and Piedmont. In each location, he has collaborated closely with excellent local guitarists, weaving rich professional and cultural tapestries that have enhanced his understanding of the diverse musical landscapes in Italy. Schmidt currently resides and works in Lodi, continuing to craft exceptional guitars that reflect his vast experience, in-depth knowledge, and the diverse influences he has accumulated throughout his journey as a luthier. His story is a testament to the pursuit of guitar-making mastery.

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
