Hermann Hauser ® II - 1961 #695

Hermann Hauser ® II - 1961 #695

Overview

Hermann Hauser ® II was born in 1911 and from 1930 worked in the same workshop as his father Hermann Hauser ® I. He took over the management of the workshop in 1952 and ran the company until 1983. He is one of the most important violin makers of the 21st century. Julian Bream, one of the most popular guitarists of the last century, played a guitar built by Hermann Hauser ® II in 1957.

Hermann Hauser ® II is worldwide known for his classical guitars that were played by famous guitarists like Julian Bream and Andrés Segovia. But Hauser ® II has also built some very special guitars for his customers. This rare tierce Stauffer model is one of these special guitars. There are existing only two guitars of this type worldwide, that were built by the famous luthier.

It's no secret that we are huge fans of Hermann Hauser ® II's guitars. His instruments are light weight, perfectly balanced with and have an outermost elegant tone. This guitar built in 1961 is particularly sublime with its original crackled varnish and its beautiful vintage look. Free of cracks, this Hauser ® II is in superb condition. Only a small part of the purfling on the lower bout of the top had to be restored since it was missing. Besides, this instrument is absolutely perfect, and ready to be played.
Its sound is of an unspeakable charm, with an effortless and smooth playing comfort. Pure delicate tone and well-rounded trebles reward the sensitive player. Balanced overtones complement the very lyrical first string to give an expressive and truly sophisticated guitar. This striking instrument is an absolute rarity and above all a true masterpiece.

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
