Paco Santiago Marin - 1990 No. 91

Paco Santiago Marin - 1990 No. 91

Overview

Paco Santiago Marín was born in Granada in 1946. His father, Francisco Santiago Oliva, was a cabinet maker of vocation and taught his son Paco Santiago the delicate art of wood crafting. In 1963 Paco Santiago joined his uncle’s workshop, Antonio Marín Montero, to complete his transition from a cabinet maker to a full-fledged luthier. In 1972 he decided to start his workshop.

Emerging from the hallowed workshops of Spain's esteemed luthier tradition, the 1990 Paco Santiago Marin Guitar No. 91 is a timeless testament to the art of stringed instrument craftsmanship. Paco Santiago's instruments, renowned for their unparalleled projection, tonal balance, and chromatic vibrancy, are treasures in the hands of maestros. Icons like Ricardo Gallen, Leo Brouwer, Manuel Gonzalez, and Iliana Matos are but a few luminaries who have chosen his creations as their sonic companions.

These masterpieces are meticulously crafted, drawing from the crème de la crème of materials, each painstakingly chosen to breathe life and soul into the music. Their acoustic robustness and tonal depth set them leagues apart in classical guitars.

No. 91, sculpted from exquisite spruce and opulent Indian rosewood in 1990, is a prime example of this luthier's unparalleled prowess. Time has been its ally, as over three decades, its timbre has blossomed, now exuding the warm, expansive, and soul-stirring resonance that aficionados of Spanish guitars crave. Its aesthetics remain impeccable, untouched by the ravages of time — pristine, save for the faintest traces of its musical journey. And beyond its sound and beauty lies its impeccable setup, ensuring that every note feels effortless, almost second nature.

In essence, this guitar is not just an instrument but an orchestra in itself. For the concert guitarist with an appetite for excellence and a penchant for the sublime, the 1990 Paco Santiago Marin Guitar No. 91 is not merely an option but a calling.

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
