Overview
Roy Fankhänel has created a real sound sensation by building this guitar. Nonetheless, it is not only the sound which is special and excellent, it is also the guitar’s aesthetics and its whole fabrication. The top consists of finely grained spruce, embellished with a noble shellac polish. The top’s purfling and the rosette with the skillfully and filigree arranged herringbone pattern increase the value of this guitar even more. The back has two parts which are connected to each other by the use of a dark ebony inlay. The purflings on the guitar’s back consist of an ebony inlay on the outside and whitish and light brown inlays on the inside. Those inlays do not only run along the outer frame of the back, but also along the ebony inlay, which connects the two parts of the back, so that both halves are framed. The back itself is made of East Indian rosewood. The neck, as well as the head, consists of mahogany. However, the head has an added cover of ebony on its front-side. As a supporting aid for the guitarist, Roy Fankhänel has installed an armrest, which blends in perfectly with the overall design.
